Structural Engineering Services
In-House PE. No Referrals. No Delays.

Every LBWP project includes the work of Mateo Galvez, our licensed Professional Engineer. Structural calculations, PE-stamped drawings, and permit support — in-house, on your timeline.

The LBWP Engineering Difference

Why In-House Engineering Changes Everything

Most wall removal contractors do one of two things: they skip engineering entirely (illegal and dangerous), or they refer you to a third-party structural engineer — adding weeks to your project timeline and a separate invoice to your budget.

Load Bearing Wall Pros took a different approach. Mateo Galvez, PE, is a full-time member of the LBWP team. He works directly with the project crew, visits sites, and stamps drawings on your schedule — not a third party's.

This integration is rare in the residential construction industry, and it's one of the primary reasons LBWP can offer faster timelines, lower total costs, and the seamless coordination that comes from having the engineer and the contractor under one roof.

Mateo Galvez, PE

Staff Structural Engineer — Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas. Mateo performs all load path analysis, beam sizing calculations, structural drawing production, and PE stamp work for LBWP projects. He has direct knowledge of Texas residential construction types across DFW, Houston, and Austin, and is familiar with local building department requirements in all 45 cities LBWP serves.

What LBWP's PE Does on Every Project

📐 Load Path Analysis

Every load in a structure has a path to the ground. We trace that path from roof to foundation, identifying what the wall you want to remove is actually carrying — point loads from above, distributed loads from floor framing, and any atypical load conditions specific to your home.

🔩 Beam Sizing Calculations

Mateo performs full engineering calculations for beam selection — analyzing span, tributary load area, beam material properties, required bearing length, deflection limits, and connection design. Every beam specification is calculated, not estimated.

📄 PE-Stamped Drawings

Every structural modification requires PE-stamped drawings for permit submission. Mateo produces complete structural drawings — plan views, sections, connection details, and specifications — and applies his PE stamp. These are required by every Texas municipality for structural permits.

🏗️ Foundation Assessment

In Texas, homes are built on slab-on-grade, pier-and-beam, or (rarely) full basements. Each foundation type has different implications for how concentrated beam loads are transferred. Mateo evaluates the foundation condition and capacity as part of every project assessment.

🛡️ Temporary Shoring Design

Temporary shoring — the support structure installed before demolition to carry loads during construction — must be engineered. We design and install shoring appropriate for each project's load conditions. No crew starts demolition until shoring is in place and verified.

📱 LiDAR Scanning

For complex projects, LBWP uses LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) scanning to capture precise 3D models of existing conditions. This eliminates measurement errors on complicated structures and gives Mateo exact as-built data to work with.

Permit Expertise

Navigating Texas Building Departments

Every municipality in Texas has its own permit process, review timeline, fee structure, and quirks. LBWP has pulled structural permits in all 45 cities we serve — and we know what each city needs to approve a structural modification quickly.

The Consulting Pivot

Structural Engineering Consulting — Without the Physical Work

LBWP is evolving to meet the growing demand for structural engineering consulting in Texas residential renovation. As AI-driven project management and homeowner education reshape the market, LBWP is positioned to offer engineering-first consulting services — providing the PE analysis, drawings, and permit support that homeowners and contractors need to execute structural modifications safely and legally.

If you need PE-stamped structural drawings and permit support without full project management, contact LBWP to discuss an engineering-only engagement. We're expanding this service across all Texas markets.

Structural Engineering — Frequently Asked Questions

Does LBWP have an in-house structural engineer?

Yes. Mateo Galvez is LBWP's staff Professional Engineer (PE), licensed in Texas. PE engineering is included in every LBWP project — you do not pay separately for an outside firm.

What is LiDAR scanning and how does LBWP use it?

LiDAR scanning uses laser pulses to create precise 3D point cloud models of existing structures. LBWP uses it on complex projects to capture exact as-built conditions, eliminating measurement errors in our structural calculations.

What structural engineering services does LBWP offer?

Load path analysis, beam sizing calculations, PE-stamped structural drawings, foundation assessment, temporary shoring design, permit support, and structural consulting for residential modifications in Texas.

Can I hire LBWP for structural engineering only?

Yes. LBWP offers engineering consulting and PE-stamped drawing services without full project management. Contact us to discuss engineering-only engagements.

How does LBWP handle permits and code compliance?

We manage the entire permit process across all 45 Texas cities we serve — PE drawings, application submission, plan reviewer — the permit process is the homeowner's responsibility. We know what each city needs and how to move efficiently through their process.
